Who we are

A Congregation of Redeemed Rebels Glorifying and Enjoying God

Scripture Alone

We are a historic reformed church. Jesus Christ is the only king and head of His church. We believe His word is perfect, pure, perspicuous, infallible and inerrant. We are unwavering in our devotion to God, His kingdom, and His word.

christ alone

As humans we are radically corrupt sinners and in desperate need of grace. Saving grace is found only in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our righteousness. Jesus is our atonement. Jesus is our king. Jesus is our Messiah. Jesus is our master. Jesus is the head of His church. Indeed the Church is Jesus’ body and bride.

Down to the core of our being, we are sinners, totally depraved or utterly corrupt. He is holy we are not. It is only by God’s sovereign grace that we have any hope. It is God’s prerogative whom he will forbear and to whom He will lavish His love upon. We as sinful humans do not deserve His kindness. Rather, while we were yet dead in our transgression and sins He saved us. God chose His people unconditionally. There was no condition upon His election. God chose His children, in Christ, before the foundations of the world. God paid the price for sin, for His children, with the blood of His only begotten Son. The atonement is limited to His children. The Father, without human cooperation, truly saves. God irresistibly takes out the sinner’s heart of stone and transplants it with a heart of flesh. A heart that beats and lives by and for Jesus Christ. Out of that regenerate heart and union with Christ we joyfully serve our new master. We are no longer slaves to sin but declared righteous. In response, we worship Him. We come to Him only with the faith which He gave us from the riches of His grace. We could not work to earn His grace for then it would not be grace. God has begun a good work in His children and will bring it unto completion. He will not lose any of His sheep but will have them persevere to the end. God gives us good work to do for His glory. Indeed all things are for His glory.

faith alone & grace alone

For His own glory He saved us. He is redeeming His chosen people. Our King sits upon His throne and reigns supreme over all rulers, and princes, and principalities. Our entire lives are oriented toward bringing Him glory and enjoying Him forever. We have been declared legally righteous. Through double imputation we are righteous and our sins remembered no more. The Father and the Son have given us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit now indwells each Christian whom God has redeemed. He has united us to Christ and out of that union of Christ Christians bear good fruit. Fruits flowing from our union with Christ necessarily include being conformed more and more into the image of Christ, mortification of our sins, and living lives of holiness. The fruits of holiness are by no means a grounds for boasting. Even in our good works we say that, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.” As sinners, out of a true sense of our sin, and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ, we do, with grief and hatred of our sin, turn from it unto God, with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience.

The Ordinary means of grace & to God alone be the glory

There are three ordinary yet powerful means by which Christ communicates to us the benefits of redemption. It pleases God to use especially the word, sacraments, and prayer. The word read, preached, memorized, studied, meditated upon, and sung. The sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. As well as individual and corporate prayers. While these means are ordinary, simple, or outwardly plain, God uses them powerfully in the life of His people. God has saved us for His own glory. God sanctifies us for His own Glory.
