Well, good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Welcome to coffee and devotions this morning. We're at Deuteronomy chapter 30 verses 1 through 10 I got my number one Dan Dan Kaya man here with me and Daniel this morning said I love caffeine and I said, you know that normally when you're with me I have decaffeinated for you, right? Yeah Yeah Maybe afterwards. OK. Well, today we're going to be talking about what it means for the people if they would repent. Does that sound good? Can you sit on this side of your chair? All right, so Deuteronomy chapter 30, the first 10 verses. So you want to read or do you want me to read?
Oh, let's pray first. God, thank you so much for the time that you've given us to be together, to read your word. Lord, we pray that we would glorify you. That you would help us as we read, that we would understand what you're telling us and that we would. Lord, that we would learn to be obedient children in Jesus's name. Amen. You read this and I'll read this. Okay. Now it shall come to pass when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among the nations where the Lord your God drives you. We're down here.
And you return to the Lord your God and obey His voice according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul, that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you.
If any of you are driven out to the furthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there he will bring you. Then the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers. And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul that you may live. And also the Lord your God will put all these on your, that's a hard word, enemies.
All those who hate you. And you will again obey the voice of the Lord. And do all his commands. put your finger there you're skipping words the Lord your God will make you abound good and the Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand Increase. So this is a compound word. Livestock. And in. That's a hard one too. Produce. Rejoice, the Lord will again rejoice. For good.
Rejoice over your fathers. you obey you if you obey the voice of the lord you god if you obey the voice of the lord your god to keep his commandments and his statutes write in the book of the law and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your All right, so after the Lord's brought upon all these blessings and curses and they've gone into captivity because they forsook the Lord, they went after other gods, they did all that things.
Is the Lord just going to leave them in captivity and say, nah, nah, nah, I hate you guys, stay there forever? What's he promised them? He promised them that if you obey them, they will give you what you need. Yeah, He'll bring them back and He'll give them what they need.
That's right. What's that called if they were sinning and they stopped sinning? Repenting. That's right. If they repent. Good. Yeah, so that's what this passage is about, right? Isn't that kind of God? Yeah, He could have just wiped them away, right? Forget you guys. He could have sent a flood again and killed all the Jewish people for their sins, right? But instead, even though He might chasten them, even though He might try to show them their sin and then punish them for their sin, is He going to utterly forsake His covenant? No. No. He could just take a bunch of leeches.
Yeah, yeah. So in my Bible, I have the best verse here. Well, I've got a few verses underlined, but I have verse six underlined. The Lord, your God, will circumcise your heart in the heart of your descendants to love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul that you may live. And then I have the last part of verse nine underlined for the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as he rejoiced over your fathers.
Which one was that? You think the whole thing would summarize the whole thing? Yeah. Okay. Well, let's go ahead and talk about seek calling. What are we called to do or how does this show us the covenant or Jesus Christ? Yeah. Can anyone in this life perfectly keep the law of God? only Jesus. So is our hope that we could perfectly keep the law? But is that what our hope is in? Yeah, our hope is in God, right? Our faith is in Jesus Christ. Our hope is in God. But since our hope is in Jesus and our faith is in God, right? That's what 1 Peter talks about.
Then if we've been reborn, what are we supposed to act like? A bunch of rebellious fools or obedient children? Yeah, obedient children, right? Because we love him. Disobeying fools. Yeah, we might act like disobeying fools sometimes, but should we repent?
Yeah. Yeah. Should we put to death more and more our sins? Mm-hmm. Yeah. All right. Do you think that's good for today? Would you like to pray? Thank you for this day, night, day to day, and we hope that we get to go and share the boy, and we hope that we won't be disobeying, excuse me. Amen. Well, may you not be a disobeying fool, as Daniel wants to put it. May the Lord grant you obedience.
