Leaders Bring an Offering

Hold on There we go We're getting to God's word and we grow in our love for the Lord together. That's your 2024 lord willing We'll make it through the books of numbers deuteronomy and hebrews. I'm so glad to be with you today. Let's have some coffee We'll pray and we'll get into God's word That's great. Father, we thank you so much for your word. It's a blessing to have your word. We pray that you would help us to understand it. Please teach us, Lord, in Jesus's name. Amen.
All right, so we are at Numbers chapter 7. It's going to be a little bit different than normal because it's a long chapter. We've been trying to take smaller chunks, but this time we're just going to get through all of chapter 7. Trust me, you'll enjoy it. Tomorrow's only going to be four verses, but today we're going to get through the different leaders and their sacrifices. So here we go. Numbers chapter seven.
Now it came to pass when Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle that he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings and the altar and all its utensils. So he anointed them and consecrated them. Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers' houses, who were the leaders of the tribes and over those who were numbered, made an offering. And they brought their offering before the LORD six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders, and for each one an ox. And they presented them before the tabernacle.
So there's six carts, twelve oxen, And they're bringing it to the Lord. and you shall give them to the Levites to every man according to his service. So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. Two carts and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon according to their service. Four carts and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari according to their service under the authority of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. But to the sons of Kohath he gave none. because theirs was the service of the holy things which they carried on their shoulders so there's six carts they're split up amongst two of Aaron's three sons the two sons the Merarites and the Gershonites they both get carts to carry their stuff right because there's lots of stuff to carry But, not the Kohathites.
Why? Because that's exactly why the showbread, the altar of incense, the altar for burnt offerings, the Ark of the Covenant, all those had their rings on the corners so the poles could go through so they could carry it on their shoulders so the Kohathites don't get in carts. Their blessing is to carry these things. So, verse 10.
Now the leaders offered the dedication offering for the altar when it was anointed. So the leaders offered their offering before the altar. But the Lord said to Moses, they shall offer their offering one leader each day for the dedication of the altar. And the one who offered his offering on the first day was Nashon, the son of Aminadab from the tribe of Judah.
All right. So we have Nashon and he's a first tribe to give this offering he's a leader of the tribe of judah and here's what he gives his offering was one silver platter the weight of which was 130 shekels and one silver bowl of 70 shekels according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, one gold pan of 10 shekels full of incense, one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb in its first year as a burnt offering. one kind of the goats as a sin offering and for the sacrifice of peace offerings two oxen five ram five male goats and five lambs male lambs in their first year this was the offering of nation the son of aminadab so we have nation he's the first he's of the tribe of judah and what we're going to find is largely going after the marching order right and Each of the leaders is going to give the same sacrifice. This was the offering of Nathanael the son of Zoar. On the third day, Eliab, the son of Helen, leader of the children of Zebulun, presented an offering. His offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of 70 shekels according to the shekel of the sanctuary, Both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering. One gold pan of ten shekels full of incense. One young bull, one ram, and one male lamb in its first year as a burnt offering. One kid of the goats as a sin offering. And for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs in their first year.
This was the offering of Eliab the son of Elo. On the fourth day, Eliezer, the son of Shadur, leader of the children of Reuben, presented an offering. His offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of 70 shekels. According to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering. one gold pan of ten shekels full of incense, one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb in its first year as a burnt offering, one kid of the goats as a sin offering, and as the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs in their first year. This was the offering of Eliezer, the son of Shadur. On the fifth day, Shulmiel, the son of Zerushad Shaddai, leader of the children of Simeon, presented an offering. This offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of seventy Shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour, mixed with oil, as a grain offering.
One gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense, one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb, in its first year, as a burnt offering. One kid of the goats, as a scent offering, and as the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs in their first year.
This was the offering of Shulmiel, the son of Zerishadai. Alright, so that's the first five. Now we're on day number six. On the sixth day, Eliasath, the son of Dual, the leader of the children of Gad, presented an offering. His offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was one hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour, mixed with oil as a grain offering, one gold pan of ten shekels, full of incense, one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb in its first year as a burnt offering. One kid of the goats as a sin offering and as the sacrifice for peace Offerings two oxen five rams five male goats and five male lambs in their first year This was the offering of Elias F the son of do-well all right now We're at day number seven day seven Ali Shammah, the son of Amaihad, leader of the children of Ephraim, presented an offering. His offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was 130 shekels, one silver bowl of 70 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.
Both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering. One gold pan of ten shekels full of incense, one young bull, one ram and one male lamb in its first year. As a burnt offering, one kid of the goats as a sin offering, and as a sacrifice of peace offerings. 2 oxen, 5 rams, 5 male goats, and 5 male lambs in their first year. This was the offering of Elishamah, the son of Amenhadab.
Alright, so we've gotten through day number 7. Remember, we're reading this all at once, but this would have been spread out over a number of days. This is a lot of ceremony going on. On the 8th day, Gamaliel, the son of Padhadasir, leader of the children of Manasseh, so now we're at Manasseh, presented an offering.
His offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of 70 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering. One gold pan of ten shekels full of incense, one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb in its first year as a burnt offering. One kid of the goats as a sin offering. On the ninth day, we're almost there guys, don't leave me now. On the ninth day, Abinadad, the son of Gidion, the leader of the children of Benjamin, presented an offering.

Both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering. One gold pan of 10 shekels full of incense. One young bull, one ram and one male lamb in its first year as a... Do you remember? We've gone over this nine times. I have a hard time following it too. This is a burnt offering. It has a burnt offering.

This was the offering of Ahasuer, the son of Amishadai. On the eleventh day, Agiel, the son of Achron, leader of the children of Asher, presented an offering. His offering was one silver platter, the weight of which was 130 shekels, and one silver bowl of 70 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, one gold pan of 10 shekels full of incense, one young bull, one ram, one male lamb in its first year as a burnt offering, one kid of the goats as a, do you remember? We've gone through all 12 tribes of israel Each and every one of them makes a peace offering makes a burnt offering makes a sin offering each one of them brings the lord incense and a flower So there's all these different offerings over these 12 days. This was the dedication offering for the altar from the leaders of Israel when it was anointed.
12 silver platters. So now we get everything added up together, right? So 12 silver platters, 12 silver bowls, 12 gold pans. Each silver platter weighed 130 shekels and each bowl 70 shekels. All the silver of the vessels weighed 2,400 shekels according to the shekel of the sanctuary. The twelve gold pans full of incense weighed ten shekels apiece, according to the shekel of the sanctuary. All the gold in the pans weighed one hundred and twenty shekels.
All the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve young bulls, the rams twelve, the male lambs in their first year twelve, with their grain offering, and the kids, the goats, as a sin offering, twelve. And all the oxen for the sacrifice of peace offerings were 24 bulls, the rams 60, the male goats 60, and the lambs in their first year 60. This was a dedication offering for the altar after it was anointed.
Now when Moses went into the tabernacle to speak with him, he heard the voice of one speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of testimony. from between the two cherubim thus he spoke to him now that last part we didn't understand we didn't expect did we the entire part before is like we're listening to both a chronicler and then at the end a treasurer right we're getting all the data we're getting all the details the treasurer's come up he's told us all the all the stuff the accountant's made his note of things the clerk has read all the minutes then at the very end Moses hears the voice of the one sitting above the chair of them.
The tabernacle is dedicated and God himself audibly speaks to Moses. It's the same voice he heard in that burning bush. It's the same voice he heard when he was on the top of Mount Sinai. And now that God has dwelt with his people. In his tabernacle the covenant king has come to be with his people to sit on his throne And moses is there and he gets to hear his voice just to imagine how cool that would be To be able to hear the voice of god God dwells in the midst of his people today God's spirit is still in us And he moves in us and he works through us And so I pray that you might live your life as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.
I pray that you would follow after him and love him all your life. And I pray that you would hear him in his word and that you would know that he is truly present in you and that you would enjoy spending time with him in prayer. Let's pray now. Father, we thank you so much for the joy it is to get to worship you, to hear from you. Father, please help us. Help us, Lord, to love you. Help us to live our lives for your glory. We need you, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. May God bless you.
