Well, good morning, good morning, good morning. Welcome to Coffee and Devotions. This is where every weekday morning, you and I, we get together. We get into God's Word and we grow in our love for the Lord together. And this year, 2024, Lord willing, we'll go through the books of Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Hebrews. Let's have some coffee. We'll pray and we'll get into God's Word.
Hey, don't knock me in the face with those. I want coffee. Oh, you want coffee? Yeah. I liked coffee, but now I don't. You liked coffee, but now you don't. Okay. I feel really good. Okay, let's pray. God, we thank you so much for this day. We pray that you would please help us. We pray that as we read your word that you would teach us in Jesus' name. Amen. Alright, Numbers chapter 15. We have 10 verses. You ready?
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When you have come into the land, you are to inhabit, which I am giving you, and you make an offering by fire to the Lord, a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow, or as a freewill offering, or in your appointed feast, to make a sweet aroma to the Lord from the herd or the flock, Then Hebrew who presents his offering to the LORD shall bring an offering of one-tenth an ephah, a fine flour, mixed with one-fourth a hen of oil, and one-fourth of a hen of wine as a drink offering, and you shall prepare with the burnt offering or the sacrifice for each lamb. Or, for a ram, you shall prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah, a fine flour, mixed with one-third of a hint of oil. As a drink offering, you shall offer one-third of a hint of wine, as a sweet aroma to the Lord.
Yeah, you like your pigtails, I know. And when you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, Let's pay attention to God's word now, okay? Okay? Thank you. And when you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or as a peace offering to the Lord, then shall be offered with the young bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah, a fine flour, with half a hint of oil. And you shall bring as the drink offering half a hint of wine, as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord. Alright, so.
God just told them they're not going to get to go to the land for 40 years. Because they rebelled. And so now he tells them, but when you go into the land, there's still going to be sacrifices. And so he's going to tell them about the sacrifices. And so there's meat to barbecue, And there's bread, oil, like flour mixed with oil that they're going to put on the altar. And there's also wine that the priests are going to drink. And he tells them how much of each thing. Wine, yuck.
Yeah, and so there's something that they're going to have to do. And this is what the Lord wants from them. Yeah, so in my Bible, I actually don't have anything underlined, but I think I would say I would underline verse 1 and 2 in my Bible as the best verse to summarize this. So, let me talk about what I think this calls us to do.
God's going to keep His promises. Sometimes His promises are way in Way out there. Ow! My pinky toe could go up there. Yeah, but does God keep His promises? Yeah, God keeps His promises. And so we can trust Him. We can follow Him. But we can also know that He's going to accept us. Right? And has He given us a sacrifice now? Yeah. He's given us a family, a house, a church, a...
He's given us a family, a house, a church, and most of all he's given us Jesus Christ. But now we live our lives as a living sacrifice. So you have blue eyes and all of us have brown eyes? Yeah, I have blue eyes but all of you have brown eyes. But we're talking about sacrifice right now. I think you're distracted today. Ha! Weird. You ready to pray? Okay.
God, we thank you so much that you are a coveted keeping God. We thank you that you have made promises, and even though they may seem way out in the future, that we can trust you. Father, we pray that you would please let us follow after you. We pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen. Can I see the thing? What thing? The thing that we just did. I don't know.
